caring for your skin during a pandemic

A raging pandemic, long hours working from home, even longer hours staring at screens of different sizes -- the past one and a half years have not been kind on us or on our skin. Your skin has probably taken a hit, as, we’re sure, has your will to regularly complete your skin care routine. Though on some days, it may seem overwhelming to work through all the steps, we encourage you to take care of your skin and give it some TLC during these challenging times. Here are some tips from our experts that could make this time easier on you and your skin.

Simplify your routine

If you don’t have the energy to do all six steps of your skin care regime, opt for products that can be mixed for more effective results, such as the Skin Hydrating Booster that can be used with your moisturiser to tackle dryness and signs of ageing. You can also look for multitasking products that give you the same or better results, with fewer steps, such as the moisturiser-cum-SPF Prisma Protect SPF30, which not only protects your skin, but also highlights your skin’s natural glow.

Make it your “me time”

Skin care is an important part of self-care. Carve out some time during the day, ideally in the evening before you hit the bed, indulge in a face mask or massage to get rid of the day’s stress. The Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque can be used as an overnight mask as the ultimate remedy for dull, dehydrated and stressed skin. You can also give the Stress Positive Eye Lift a shot to brighten and depuff the sensitive under-eye area.

Combat dryness and signs of ageing

Stress often makes the skin drier and more dehydrated than usual, which ultimately leads to early signs of ageing, such as dullness, fine lines and wrinkles. Long hours of wearing a mask, while absolutely essential, can cause maskne and skin abrasions. Also, when we’re not stepping out in the sun, it’s easy to forget to protect our skin with SPF or drink enough water through the day, but we’re here to remind you to do both, no matter what. Hydrate yourself with lots of water through the day and regular moisturisation, with a moisturiser that suits your skin type, such as the Calm Water Gel for sensitive skin, Skin Smoothing Cream for dry skin or Active Moist Moisturiser for oily skin. And of course, don’t forget the sunscreen, even if you’re indoors. Try the Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 or the Oil Free Matte SPF30, based on your skin type. And if you’re looking for a long-wear SPF, try the Protection 50 Sport SPF50, which gives you up to 80 minutes of protection, even during the monsoon.
