skin care tips to weather the rains

skin care tips to weather the rains

The monsoons are here and with them so are changes in your skin texture and concerns. The weather has more of an impact on your skin than you may realise so it may be time to switch up your skin care routine or make a few small changes to live in your healthiest skin. Here are a few things to keep in mind as the rains come lashing down.

cleanse your skin

The rise in humidity can cause oily skin to become oilier and dry skin to become drier (due to the loss of water from the skin’s surface). Cleansing during this season to remove all the dirt and pollution that may settle on your skin is a crucial step in your skin care routine. It's important to choose the right face wash for on your skin type. In fact, opt for a double cleansing method to really rid your skin of the impurities. Start with Step 0, which is the Precleanse, followed by the Special Cleansing Gel for squeaky clean skin. The best part? These are suitable for all skin types.

exfoliate the dead cells away

Higher humidity, higher production of oil and sebum on your skin, more clogged pores, higher chances of breakouts and acne -- this is what skin care nightmares are made of. To combat this, simply add regular exfoliation to your skin care diet. Free your pores with the Daily Microfoliant, which gets rid of dead skin cells, revealing visibly smoother, brighter skin. This exfoliant works on all skin types and its rice-bran powder formula is gentle enough to use every day. (Psst: this one is Oprah’s favourite skin care product).

tone and refresh

Using a toner regularly has multiple benefits, especially during the monsoons. Think reduced appearance of pores, protection from environmental elements, soothing feeling, helps skin retain moisture, and helps you beat the heat and humidity that comes after the showers. Enriched with the goodness of aloe, cucumber and lavender extracts, the Multi-Active Toner is a great one to keep spritzing on your face through the day.

moisturiser and hydrate

With so much moisture in the air, do you really need to moisturise your skin too? The answer is a resounding YES. No matter what your skin type may be, it loses its natural moisture this season, so it’s important to regularly nourish and hydrate it. Choose a moisturiser based on your skin type, such as the Active Moist for oily skin, Intense Moisture Balance for dry skin, the Skin Smoothing Cream for combination skin and the Calm Water Gel for sensitive skin. Don’t forget to hydrate your body too, by drinking at least 2-3 litres of water every day.

sunscreen all the way

If you thought the heavy clouds are protecting you from the sun and you can get away with using no sunscreen this season, think again. The sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays penetrate through the ozone layer, so the clouds are child’s play. Please continue to layer on that sunscreen to protect your skin during the day. From our wide range, choose a sunscreen that suits your skin type and concern -- Oil Free Matte SPF30 for oily skin, Prisma Protect SPF30 for dry skin, Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 for combination skin and Super Sensitive Shield for sensitive skin -- and you’ll thank us later.
