Reviews

Am happy with the products

"This is my second dark spot peel, i used it as recommended and was very happy with the results. Am now using it just once a month as most of the spots have faded and not many new ones are showing up thanks to serum and SPF 50 moisturizer."

Veronique S. (5/5)

Dark spot peel

"I’ve used the peel a few times and while I need to use it more often and with a dark spot serum to totally notice results, the first few treatments have made my skin feel refreshed and smooth."

Samantha H. (5/5)

Prompt Results: Dewy Clear Skin

"I’ve been using the four-part Power Bright line for two or three weeks: peel followed by night cream, and serum followed by SPF. My melanin-challenged complexion (blonde, blue eyes, wrong latitude) has amassed a good lot of freckles, some dark spots, some hyperpigmentation, and some stubborn blackheads on the tip of my nose that normally only disappear in humid, salty, sunny weather. (Tri-Luma worked wonders on my melasma years ago. ) A couple weeks in, a pair of especially dark freckles (my focal points for progress) are fading tangibly. My skin is clearer and brighter, not to mention soft and smooth. The most surprising side effect (besides how immediate were the objective results against excess pigmentation) has been that the peel has loosened and freed the microscopic comedones that persistently pepper the end of my nose. I’m not sure I can retire this peel, the effect is so lovely."

Q&A

I do cosmetic needling every other day or so (0.25 mm). Do I need to wait to do so before or after this peel ?
You should wait at least 7 to 14 days after microneedling before doing a light to medium chemical peel, and up to 2 to 4 weeks if your skin is sensitive or you're planning a stronger peel. Monitor your skin's healing: If there's still redness, flaking, or sensitivity, wait longer.
Would this product be effective for dark spots on my hands?
Hello Anna, Thank you for your question. While we do offer several products that can be safely used on the body to help address specific skin concerns, it's important to note that these products have only been clinically tested and evaluated for use on the face. This means that while the ingredients are generally safe for use on larger areas of the skin, the product’s effectiveness and results have only been validated through facial application. Skin on the body can often differ in thickness, sensitivity, and oil production, so results may vary when used outside the intended area. I certainly hope this information helps. If you are interested in product to address your skin concerns, we’d be happy to recommend suitable products. Your skin’s safety and results are always our top priority! Kindly, Sandra
Does this work on melanated skin?
Hello Velda, Thank you for reaching out with your question. The PowerBright Dark Spot Peel is clinically proven to be effective across a wide range of skin tones and types, including Fitzpatrick types I–IV. However, as with any exfoliating treatment, individual results may vary depending on your skin's condition and tolerance. Please note that this product is not recommended for sensitive skin, as it is a high-active exfoliant and may cause irritation. If you have any other questions or would like personalized recommendations, please feel free to contact us--we’re happy to help! Kindly, Sandra
What percentage AHA, PHA and Tranexamate is in this? Thanks.
Hello Caitlin, Thank you for your question. At Dermalogica, we believe in being transparent about our ingredients and aim to give you as much helpful information as possible. We understand how important it is to know what you're using on your skin and truly appreciate your interest in our formulas. While we don’t share the exact percentages of individual ingredients—since that information is proprietary—we can tell you that the total concentration of our AHA + PHA blend, including Mandelic Acid, is 12%. This blend is carefully formulated to address your skin concerns. If you have any questions about which products might be best for your skin, we're always here to help! Kindly, Sandra
Can this be used at the same time as tretinoin or are they contraindicated?
Hello Michelle, Thank you for choosing Dermalogica. In general, we do not suggest layering more than one serum. Active ingredients work best when they have access to the skin, and some serum formulas create a barrier which may prevent a second serum from penetrating the skin. For maximum benefit, we recommend incorporating more than one into your routine by using one in the AM and one in the PM. In this case retinol will always be applied in the pm. Kind Regards, Melissa Dermalogica Professional Skin Therapist
